Advice on how to prevent Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) 1

  • Avoid situations causing stress and anxiety
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Do not wear tight clothing
  • Have smaller meals, more times per day
  • Take medication with enough water
  • Chew slowly
  • Have a light dinner at least 2 hours before bedtime
  • Walk after eating
  • Use a wedge to lift the head of the bed to a 45° angle
