Eat smaller meals
Elevating the head of the bed
using supports to lift the bed legs by at least 15 cm or by placing a wedge under the mattress. This will primarily benefit patients with nighttime symptoms and manifestations of GERD like cough and hoarseness.
Diet
At least temporarily, avoid foods associated with significant increases in symptoms. Be careful with coffee, sodas, chocolate, alcohol, acid foods, spicy hot foods, mint, and fatty foods.
Do not go to bed right after eating
Wait at least 2-3 hours after eating before lying down.
Do not smoke.
